What to Expect From R.I.D. System

Some of the most popular questions I am asked regarding R.I.D. products are "do they work?", "how long does it last?" and "how much product does it take?". Before answering these questions it is important to realize that each situation is different and will vary dependent on a number of factors. First, all R.I.D. brand products are natural and contain ingredients on what is known as the EPA 25b list (click here), mostly a combination of plant oils and extracts used for decades in agriculture to control pests form destroying crops while posing no threat to humans & animals. A quick internet search can provide loads of information on the affects that garlic oil, cedar oil, lemongrass oil, and other essential oils have on pests. Some ingredients act as repellents and others provide a contact kill. While the basic principles of the R.I.D. System are simple, there are many nuances we had to address for the system to work properly and effectively. The trick is formulating the products to work with an irrigation system and prevent deterioration of plastic, clogging spray heads and maintain proper viscosity while giving precision control of the amount of product applied. Each time you apply R.I.D. products, you eliminate the local insect population and create a barrier which other insects do not like and they simply choose to go elsewhere. The length of time the products last depends on weather conditions, time of year and other conditions. To get control of a large active pest problem will take more product put out more frequently (up to several times per week) while a maintenance program may only require application once every month or two. The size of the property and areas that are treated plays a large role in the amount of product that is applied. If you have a 1-acre lot you would use much more product to treat an entire acre than an 8-10 thousand square foot lot. You can however, customize a treatment plan so that the R.I.D. System only treats the areas (zones) you wish to have treated.
